Origins unsure, certainly drawn for noble patronage, it could have been for Manoel the Fortunate of Portugal or for Francis Premier of France. Found in France, late C19th, 4 vellum leaves, this extract from 2nd leaf recto. Named after the last private owner. Extract shows Sri Lanka, Portuguese Arms, and seven masted vessel (Portuguese? Muslim? Chinese? comments welcome.) Drawn immediately after the first Portuguese expeditions (Vasco da Gama, Cabral, Juan Coelho and Albuquerque (1489 - 1515)
